Cubic Zirconia (CZ) Rough stones are the raw, lab-grown blocks of synthetic zirconium dioxide (ZrO₂) before they are faceted and polished into glistening gems. Produced via a high-temperature “skull melting” technique, these dense chunks serve as the primary medium for lapidary training, hobby cutting, and large-scale jewelry manufacturing.

Form & Texture: Supplied as chunky, heavy, semi-translucent raw blocks (often sawn rather than shattered) that lack the geometric crystal structure of mined gems.

Hardness: Rated at 8.25 to 8.5 on the Mohs scale, which demands durable diamond-coated tools for grinding and faceting.

Density: High specific gravity ranging between 5.65 and 5.95 g/cm³, making the raw rough feel distinctly heavy for its size.

Heat Sensitivity: Stable under standard lapidary work, but holds a thermal threshold limit of 650°C to 850°C, meaning most variants cannot withstand automated high-heat wax casting.
